This meant that the operating system disk i used didn't have the correct ethernet driver so no driver had been installed. Then click edit again and choose network and download your network drivers. It worked for me as well. But the CD did not boot because "information was not valid" and I couldn't use it to reformat and reinstall my Windows XP MC edition.
