The problem is what I call a phantom display area. Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post. Not the answer you're looking for? I wouldn't mind this but it's causing problems when I actually do try to connect another monitor. my review here

The presence of a "non-PNP" VGA monitor is detected by just sensing electrical load on the RGB/HV outputs, so a faulty driver chip or short-circuited board can cause misdetection. Use msconfig and Task Manager to disable all services and startup items to see if the issue is caused by a third-party tool or application. That seems to grab the Word window and I can drag it to the right and it appears. I have an NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics card with the updated drivers and using windows 7 ultimate. Other colleagues with similar setups don't have this ghost monitor. Browse other questions tagged windows-7 multiple-monitors or ask your own question. I am using NVIDIA 353.54 drivers. Windows pop up off screen and I cannot see them.
