I do not want the domain shown but the program must have access to the internet (they will be able to make purchases from this in store computer via my site). I would highly recommend getting Mozilla Firefox and using that from now on. If that doesn't do the trick then click on the Reset Web Settings button under the Programs tab in the same Tools>Options dialogue box in IE and see if that helps. I removed AVG. It is only available at www.microsoft.com?
the solution was a re-install of IE6.... I ran your 3rd recommendation, 3) Start > Run > Type CMD > Type the following: sfc /scannow And that seems to have done the trick... Basically you are not allowed to go to any web page you want to! ...and you are not allowed to use any feature on the page. It will open up another IE. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
As everyone else, a virus got thru and I had trouble with IE8. IE does the same thing as Chrome, except I can't shut it down by clicking the "X" in the corner, I need to shut the process down in Windows Task Manager. if you know how to get the rest of the AVG files off your registery, you are all good. Reboot.
